The option that no one tells you about

You shouldn't have to figure this out alone.

Pamela Clark, Author

I've been where you are. Years ago, my late father, suffered heart attacks and strokes - he no longer could work and support himself at just 54 years old.

Newly married, and with a brand new baby, I moved him into our home. And from that point I was the person helping him maneuver rehabilitation appointments, doctor follow-up appointments, medication management, and helping him figure out life post crisis.

I never had to find him a care home. But I know the rest of it. The duty. The love. And underneath it, the quiet resentment I didn't want to admit to anyone: I want my life back. If you've felt that, you're not a bad person. You're a tired one.

Later, when I got into residential assisted living, I saw how most families actually get "helped." For a lot of agencies and national services, it's a numbers game. A lead. A commission from whichever facility takes them. It horrified me. So I decided to do it differently.

And you're not an exception, either. Sixty-three million Americans are now caring for an adult. That is a 45% jump in just a few years. We simply do it quietly, out of duty, telling everyone we're fine.

Not here.

I'm Pamela. A person, not a call center. Your loved one is not a paycheck to me. She is somebody's mother. He's somebody's husband. I do this to honor our seniors, and to stand with the rest of us, the unexpected caregivers, doing our best in a chapter nobody prepared us for.

I know this isn't an easy decision. I'm not here to make it for you. I'm here to help you make the right one, for your loved one, and for your family.

Local to Montgomery County and NW Houston? I walk it with you one-on-one. The touring, the vetting, the hard conversations.

Anywhere else? You still get me. I'll give you the guidance and the resources to do this well, supported and understood - wherever you are.

Choosing the right care isn't giving up on them. It's one of the most loving things you can do. Guilt is not a decision-making tool. Love is.
